Susanne de Kraker wants to convey her amazement for nature to others through pictures. In addition to illustrations, she makes free work, in which print techniques are her preference. Susanne loves the labor-intensive process of printmaking. The repetition of the actions and the concentration that this requires, allows her to fully immerse herself in her work. The woodcut technique has a lively structure, warm colors and a stylized visual language in which she feels at home.
She is interested in our relationship with animals and questions the negative imagery surrounding certain species, such as the wolf of the pigeon. Based on this interest, she is working on a picture book that works on a more inclusive image of exotics. In this way, she hopes to contribute to new perspectives that can connect humans and animals!
In addition to her artistic practice, she is also an art teacher and regularly gives workshops.
