Karolina Grenczyk is a Rotterdam based illustrator with a love for quirky and whimsical illustrations. She is inspired by animals and nature, but also by her day-to-day city life; visiting cafes, cinemas and museums. Although she uses a variety of techniques, paper cutting is her favourite way to create illustrations, which are clean, colourful, and graphic in style.

The patterns she uses in her work are hand drawn, and show her passion for surface pattern design, which she would like to develop further.  The paper she uses gives extra texture to the images and is either bought or  recycled. When working with a client, she sketches out the ideas for the editorial illustrations first and then recreates the image in layers of paper.

Former clients include: Rotterdampas Magazine and BlootGewoon.

She has written and illustrated the children’s book ‘Emily and the Bear,’ which is also available in Dutch as ‘Emilie en de Beer.’
